Privacy Policy
The-Pros.net (“The-Pros”, “we”, “us”) is a free matching service that connects homeowners with independent, licensed home improvement contractors. This policy explains what we collect when you ask for a quote, what we do with it, and the choices you have.
The-Pros.net is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY NAME], [MAILING ADDRESS]. Questions about this policy: [email protected].
1. What we collect
| Category | What it includes | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Contact details | Your name, email address and phone number | You, in the quote form |
| Project details | ZIP or postal code, whether you own the home, the kind of project, your estimated start time, and anything you write in the description field | You, in the quote form |
| Technical data | IP address, browser user agent, country, the page you submitted from, the first page of your visit, and the site that referred you | Collected automatically |
| Advertising identifiers | Campaign tags (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, utm_content) and click identifiers (gclid, fbclid, msclkid, ttclid), plus the Meta _fbp and _fbc cookies | Collected automatically from the link you arrived on and from cookies |
We do not ask for and do not want payment card numbers, bank details, government identification numbers, or any health information. Please do not put information like that in the project description.
2. Why we use it, and on what basis
- To match you with a contractor. Your ZIP determines which contractor in our network serves your area, and your project type determines who is a fit. This is the service you asked for.
- To pass your request to that contractor so they can contact you with a quote.
- To contact you ourselves about your request, by call, text or email, where you have consented to that.
- To prevent duplicates and abuse. If the same phone number or email submits the same kind of project within 30 days, we flag it as a duplicate rather than sending it out again.
- To measure our advertising. See section 4.
- To meet legal obligations and to keep records of the consent you gave, including the exact consent wording shown to you at the time you submitted.
3. Who we share it with
The contractor we match you with
When you submit the form we send your name, contact details, ZIP, homeowner answer, project type, timeline and description to one contractor — the one matched to your area and project. We do not broadcast your request to a list of bidders. That contractor is an independent business and becomes an independent controller of your information once it reaches them; their own privacy practices govern what they do with it after that, and we encourage you to ask them.
Service providers
We use a small number of vendors to run the service, each acting on our instructions: Cloudflare (website hosting and our database), GoHighLevel (the CRM the contractor receives your request in), Resend (transactional email), and Meta (advertising measurement, described below).
Legal
We may disclose information where we are required to by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
What we do not do
We do not sell your information to third-party lead lists, data brokers, or aggregators. Your request goes to the one contractor matched to it and nowhere else.
4. Advertising and measurement
We advertise on Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and need to know which ads produce real enquiries. We use the Meta Pixel on this site and also send matching events from our own server through Meta’s Conversions API.
The identifying fields we send to Meta — your email address, phone number, first and last name and ZIP — are hashed with SHA-256 before they leave our server, so Meta receives an irreversible fingerprint rather than the values themselves. Alongside them we send your IP address, browser user agent, and the _fbp / _fbc cookie values, which are not hashed. Meta uses this to attribute the enquiry to an ad and to build advertising audiences.
Depending on where you live, this kind of advertising measurement may count as “sharing” or “selling” personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising even though no money changes hands. See section 7 for how to opt out.
5. Cookies and local storage
We keep this light. We do not use a cookie banner because we do not run advertising cookies of our own.
- Meta Pixel cookies (
_fbp,_fbc) are set by Meta’s script for the measurement described above. - Local storage: we store a single entry named
tp_attrin your browser for 90 days. It records the first page of your visit, the site that referred you, and the campaign tags on the link you arrived from, so we can tell which ad produced an enquiry. It contains no name, email or phone number.
Clearing your browser’s site data removes both.
6. How long we keep it
We keep lead records — including the consent wording shown to you and the date you submitted — for as long as we need them to run the service, resolve disputes with contractors, and evidence consent if challenged. Where no other obligation applies, our working retention period is [RETENTION PERIOD, e.g. 4 years] from your last interaction with us, after which the record is deleted or anonymised. Records already delivered to a contractor also sit in that contractor’s own systems under their retention rules.
7. Your choices and rights
Everyone
Write to [email protected] and we will, subject to verifying who you are: tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or give you a copy. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Calls, texts and email
Reply STOP to any text to stop texts. Use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Tell any caller to put you on their do-not-call list. Note that once a contractor has your details, you will also need to ask them directly to stop contacting you — we cannot do it on their behalf.
California (CCPA / CPRA)
California residents have the right to know, delete, correct, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. To opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising, email [email protected] with the subject line “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information”. We honour Global Privacy Control signals where your browser sends them. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.
Other US states
Residents of states including Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and Oregon have comparable rights to access, correct, delete, obtain a copy, and opt out of targeted advertising. Use the same contact address and tell us which state you are in.
Canada
If you are in Canada, you may access and correct your personal information and withdraw consent to further contact at any time, subject to legal and contractual limits.
8. Security
Traffic to this site is encrypted in transit. Lead records are held in a hosted database with access restricted to the people who run the service, and API access to our admin tools requires a secret token. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
This service is for homeowners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top. Material changes will be flagged on this page.
